Here we are! Blog #1 for “My Kids Cards”. It’s been a fun journey going from having an idea to becoming a product of sorts. One night, my daughter came to me saying she had something to tell me, but wanted me to promise I wouldn’t get mad. She was clearly concerned. I’m not a dad to get too upset, or even mad. But the worry in her eyes made me wish she had something she could hand me to guarantee my tranquility after hearing what she had to say. That way, she could come to me with more confidence. That’s where the idea started, and now here we are.

“My Kid Cards” is a deck that is meant to foster connection between us and our children by empowering them to capture more of our time and give them more jurisdiction on some things they want. I’ve played, and still do, a lot of games: video games, board games, and card games. I’ve produced home brew DnD campaigns and written stories in the fantasy genre. Needless to say, I am a “gamer” at heart. So being able to create a card game that will allow me to connect with my daughter more is a dream come true.
Admittedly, I’m very close to my daughter. We play a lot of games together, work on Legos, hike, play tennis etc. But I am certain that if given the opportunity to hand me a card to ensure more quality time together, on her terms, she’d love to take advantage and we’d become even closer. A lot of us parents are very busy. We sometimes, or oftentimes, forget to save time for them, to give them moments to share with us. “My Kid Cards” was created to make sure we have time carved out for them and to grant “Wishes” they may have.
If you’re reading this, welcome. I’ll be posting here as the project moves forward and updates occure.
Go team,
Seth
