Okay! So! The cards are in and they look great. As a first prototype, I am really happy with them. If I am to nitpick, they could be brighter, which is always the case when going from seeing an image on screen to seeing them on a printed medium. I can change that. The colored borders need to be a bit thinner. When setting up the printing at the manufacturer there is the ever present “safety line” that shows where your image could potentially be cutoff. I need to get my borders closer to that line for the next test print. The box looks amazing. I threw the design together in 30 min. More than anything, I wanted to see how my design would translate to the box. Overall I am happy with the way it came out and I can focus on honing in a more calculated design.

As a fun family game, the cards are presently with the testing families, including my own. My daughter, Alesia, loves them and gets excited to draw another card, whew!! She’s drawn seven cards so far and played three of them. She is saving her two time cards and has a “Project” card she’s yet to play. Her “New Book” card was played and she picked out a “Captain Underpants” book which she read the first day after it arrived.

I have the landing page up and running so I can start getting my email list together. Getting the landing page / email manager platform (Getresponse) to communicate with my web hosting site (Wix) took more time than I expected. But now that I’ve figured it out, the next time won’t be so difficult and time consuming. I am happy with the first iteration of my landing page and it’ll evolve with the design and evolution of the game. I also have a logo being created that I hope will be completed in a few days. After that, time to get some good ol’ advertising out there just to see where we are with interest. Advertising is an endeavor of constant trial and error with repeated tweaking. Best to get that process going.
